In 1919, exactly 100 years ago, the drastic
post-war shortages led the mohair and
wool used to make Steiff bears to be
replaced by paper plush. Today, the
endearing Platinum Paper Teddy bear
might even come to be a trendsetter from
an ethical and ecological perspective, with
its gleaming soles and paws made of pineapple fibres, handmade wooden eyes,
stainless steel “Button in Ear” and
pendant – all of which go wonderfully with
his platinum-grey paper plush coat.
